It’s one thing to talk about technology, but it’s an entirely different experience to see young minds light up when they connect a circuit for the first time or write a line of code that makes a robot move.
The VBS Technology Track at Foursquare Gospel Church, Isheri is officially underway, and the energy in the room has been nothing short of electric.
Learning by Doing
Over the past few days, the children and teens have transitioned from learning theoretical AI basics to diving straight into hands-on robotics. We believe that the best way to understand technology is to get your hands dirty, and these students have done exactly that.
They are currently working with microcontroller boards and sensor modules to assemble their own robotic cars. Watching them carefully wire ultrasonic sensors, connect motors, and troubleshoot logic errors has been an incredibly rewarding experience for the entire A&I Tech team.
The Power of Collaboration
What has stood out the most isn't just their technical aptitude, but their teamwork. Building a robot requires patience and collaboration. When a sensor doesn't work or a wheel spins the wrong way, the students are learning to step back, analyze the problem, and work together to find a solution.
These are exactly the kinds of problem-solving skills we set out to nurture when we designed this curriculum. They are learning to think creatively and solve real-world challenges—all while having fun!
As we move into the second week of the program, we will be focusing heavily on the coding aspect, where they will write the logic that gives these machines "intelligence."
